North American Standard Requirements for Faucets (According to ASME A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-05)
ASME A112.18.1-2005/CSA B125.1-05 is a standard for faucets recognized and accepted by the United States and Canada. This standard specifies the technical requirements for faucets and their accessories in detail. In summary, the main performance requirements are as follows:
1. Cross-flow (sealing test of hot and cold water partitions);
2. Coating: electroplating layer - salt spray test
3. Dynamic sealing: 1.4Kgf/c㎡ dynamic pressure 10℃ cold water for 5 minutes test
             8.6Kgf/c㎡ Dynamic pressure 10℃ cold water 5 minutes test
             1.4Kgf/c㎡ dynamic pressure 66℃ hot water for 5 minutes test
8.6Kgf/c㎡ dynamic pressure 66℃ hot water 5 minutes test
4. Bursting pressure
(1) Terminal devices such as faucets: close the valve core and test for 1 minute under 500PSI pressure;
(2) Water supply pipeline: plug the water outlet and test for 1 minute under 500PSI pressure;
(3) Hose group: test under 100PSI pressure for 1 hour, and then test under 290PSI pressure for 1 minute;
(4) Ball joint: tested under 50PSI dynamic pressure, the leakage does not exceed 50ml/min;
5. Flow test
(1) The minimum flow is tested at 0.14MPa (20PSI);
(2) The maximum flow is tested under the pressure of 0.41MPa;
(3) The maximum flow rate of the shower head is tested under the pressure of 38℃ hot water and 0.55MPa.
6. Life test: frequency 1500 times/hour, alternately supply cold water and hot water during the test, and the dynamic pressure of water supply is 50PSI. The following products are subject to life testing:
(1) valve core;
(2) Swing water outlet;
(3) Shower head, spray gun body and hand-held shower group;
(4) water separator;
7. Shower pipe, pull pipe
(1) 10,000 times of tensile life test: gradually apply a tensile force of 67N to the end of the hose, then reduce it to 0N, and then increase it by 67N;
(2) Pull test: 334N15 seconds.
8. Torque test
(1) Strength test of connectors;
(2) Spool opening force test.

9. Anti-siphon test: Any device with a water outlet that can be submerged in water needs to be tested for anti-siphon (such as a pull-out faucet shower).
